Photographer’s Note

Belozersk is one of several oldest Russian towns. It was firstly mentioned in chronicles in 862, but at that time it was at opposite shore of Beloye lake. There was such strange tradition in ancient Russia - to "move" towns to other places sometimes, and Belozersk was "moved" to its present place only in 1398. Now it is small and sleepy town with 11 thousands of inhabitants.

This is typical panorama of this town - old and beautiful church among small wooden houses.

This shot was taken from earthy walls of Belozersk's kremlin. These walls are quite high, and I've seen such big earthy ones only in Dmitrov near Moscow.

The Church of the Saviour shown at this picture was built in 1723.
