This is the Church of the Transfiguration in Kizhi. Kizhi is a very small island in Onega lake. A boat goes there from Petrozavodsk. The church was built in 1714 and it is something of a miracle that it has survived in such a harsh climate. It is made entirely out of wood and has a total of 22 cupolas all covered in wooden shingles.

Very nice composition. It looks like disney photo. I think the base is little tilted (~0.5 degress).

What a lovely Church! I really like the wood mixed with the ornate tops. Perhaps a bit less of a crop would help, The church is too much taking too much of the picture.

Hi Jeremy - the base is tilted slightly but otherwise this is a really nice photograph of this fantastic (and possibly slightly miraculous) building. Thanks for showing us - wonderful - a great respect for the builders.
best wishes Kev

Marvelous shot. It shows grately Orthodox spirit of Russia. Moreover I like these almost invisible, vertical trial clouds. Well done!!!

Most Exquisite Wooden Thing Ever Made (in Europe at least)!
Great photo - here you depicted quite well this up-movement that these ancient masters wanted to express.
