Amur River II Photo

Photographer’s Note

I liked the layering in this shot of the Amur River outside Komsomolsk On Amur. The Amur River forms the border with China, for much of it's length. The sandy beach is popular with locals in summer, for sunbaking, followed by a dip in the river. However, I've read that pollution of the river with heavy metals & sewage, is high, so I didn't pursue that line of leisure.

The image looks tilted, but the riverbank is sloping down from left to right. The vertical fenceposts at left, are near enough to 90 degrees. The people also look about right.

Very nice composition though I'm not so sure about the inclusion of so much of the car park. Good point of view with fine colours and clarity.

remarkable colour spectrum in this fine wide view.Fascinating idea that tigers and armur leopards are wandering around in those opposite mountainms.

It's the first time, i think that i see a picture of the Amur!
i read many about that river, I love the travel books, and i read many about that part of Siberia, with this giant river, a sort of highway between Russia and China.

Hi Chris,
this one shows very good how big the Amur is. I like the good texture and colour of the water and also the background hills with the sky. A lot of captures from you show a line of clouds only at the horizon, is it typical there?
And for the "tilt", the change of angle of the fence and the diagonal lines on the place in front are also responsible for that.

Hello Chris,

Technical a very good picture through your excellent composition.
We see a beach on the edges of the river, also a very nice background with the mountains and the sheep clouds to the sky. Everywhere in the world get them the same problem wit pollution of the rivers with heavy metals and open sewage.

Hello Chris. You have anchored the shot really well on that lamp post no 3. Thew viewpoint is vast with the handrail makes a nice border. You are right about the many layers. The riverbank converges well making good perspective against the blue water. The hills on the horizon are in pleasant pink against the well saturated blue sky with puffy white clouds.
