I liked the 'war & peace', juxtapositioning here, between the fg war memorial, (20 million Russians died, during WWII), & the background Church. Taken along the Vladivostok waterfront, near the green submarine, on a cloudy day.
This city is poorly represented on TE.

Good choice of the vertical format to capture both the memorial and the whole of the church. I like the perspective and the contrast between the burnt orange tiles either end and the greys of the sculpture. Thanks for sharing your pictures of this interesting city.

Excellent week-end mon Cher.

Hi, Chris. A good framing with the church nicely stuck between the trees and the memorial in front. The contrast with the trees works well. A pity the sky looks so grey.

Indeed I see almost no pictures about Vladivostok, maybe insufficient known TE in Russia.
Russia have most victims during WAR II about the world
Very well picture with a very good quality and subject.
Thanks for sharing.
I wish you a Happy New Year and healthy 2008.

Chris good moning!
A very special vertical frame with great perspective. The colors are great and that red left corner is eye catching
My best wishes for New Year

I had no idea that Russia suffered so many casualties! Shame on me; that information had somehow escaped me!
Interesting memorial sculpture. Well composed image with the memorial in perspective and the beautiful archiitecture of the church in stark contrast.

a bit strange to have warriors and a church, but looking at the history of Christian church there are a lot of wars. Yes, the Russians had the most dead in WWII, and not most in soldiers, more in not fighting people. Good POV to combine it and excellent sharpness. I think your tour puts some new places into TE.

It is a powerful statement in contrasts, and with the vertical format, it works very well. Vladivostok is very poorly represented, and I am glad to see your contribution to rectify that shortcoming.
Warm regards and best wishes for a very good year.

Good shot combining the two different elements. The orthodox churches are always interesting, and the sculpture it surprisingly good too. When you put the two together then you get something that shows two sides of human nature. Nice work!

an interesting place, good composition with the orthodox church in BG. Fine vertical format. I like it.

Thanks for sharing with us pictures from the famous city, which as you said is poorly represented photographically here. 'Strange' architecture of the church, with golden roofs. Combining the two elements - the church & the sculpture, makes this quite special. Good work!
