Vladivostok is the terminus, of the Trans Siberian Railway, in the Russian Far East. Taken as I departed the overnight train from Khabarovsk, 12 hours to the north, on the junction of the T.S.R. & the Baikal Amur Mainline (B.A.M.). I liked the linear perspective here.
Yul Brynner's old house is up the hill, on the left.

Great lines in this fine image!
An effective point of view gives a good impression of the place, and including the fine old engine adds a lot to the composition...
Interesting to see this place!

I like how, following the tracks, we go "into" the picture.

I find the sky too bright, but I like the converging perspectives of these nice green russian trains with the oldie in between, and to make it better they are very comfortable, another bonus for the photographer is that they are so sloooooooow you run no risk of blur shooting from them ;-)
Have a nice day,

A good capture of this railway station which always seems to have a touch of the romantic about its name. I like the curving tracks receding into the distance to be lost amongst the high rise buildings. Very good detail and sharpness.

The Trans Siberian express is an almost legendary railroad line and have inspired many artists. Arriving here must be a special event at the end of a long trip though all that extended planes from Russia.
You chose a perfect POV to show us the station.

the lines from the rail are well arranged for depth and dynamic and this high POV shows how large the old locomotive is with the people around. Pleasant sharpness and the pavement around the locomotive is interesting.

Oh I like this, old locomotive and newer ones and everything is having kind of travelling feeling in it. I just hope that Intercity will be launched there during this 10 years. So you'll not spend 8 days on train!

This is the end of one of the most famous (and certainly the longest) railway in the world. As you say, the perspective is very good, with the rail lines appearing to converge in the distance, or spread out in the foreground, depending on which way you look at it. Nicely done!

Very spectacular and impresive image the perspective is effective. Composition is excellent, I like the superb details, first of all the old locomotive. Well done! Have a nice day

good view withy great perspective. Fine positioning of the old and the working train next to each other.
stego (24132) 2007-10-25 18:13
The perspective and depth really make this photo very attractive. The compo is amazingly tidy, almost as if you had ordered a miniature maquette just to make the photo.
You weren't very lucky with the weather and the scan. It looks much like an old photo that lost part of its colours and gained a bit of excess blue, but that doesn't diminish much its charm.

A great perspective and very good detail and sharpness, well done.

Hi Chris. The slightly faded colors are actually a good moody enhancement for this shot for which you found a nice vantage point to benefit from the variety of lines which deliver a lot of perspective and depth. Good to see a photo of this rather remote location. People well included to deliver scale.

Excellent POV, excellent compostion with the old engine there. Could be a real size train museum. Well seen.

Hi Chris, welcome back, I've been out of it a lot recentl, so missed your return. Interesting to see this underrepresented place on the sight, very high on my 'want to go' list.

Yeah, the perspective in this photo is very good and the trains and railway tracks lead the eye very nicely to the skyline of the city in the background. I find the composition good as well. Really nice work!

Excellent on-point perspective with trains converging into the distance, but what I especialy like is the chance to see it in North East Siberia. Very good colors and resolution,

Angshu (56750) 2007-11-03 21:34
I like the converging perspective of the green trains with the old engine in between. So this is the station in which the longest railway line ends. Thanks for sharing a picture of this place, which I've heard so much, yet seen so little pictures.
