GUM is the name of the main department store in many cities of the former Soviet Union. In 2006 I went in the most famous one in Moscow - a very up-market shopping mall facing Red Square.
More recently I visited the Vladivostok GUM and the difference was amazing. Not only are they 5752 miles apart but the two stores seem to be from different ages!
In a workshop I am attaching an image I took inside Moscow GUM.

Amasing shot, and an interesting note. I have never been in Vladivostok, but I know GUM in Moscow. Today it is a store of the expensive butiques.
Warm regards from Ural,

Hello Marlene, I'm not a fashionista :) but I must say that I also have several fotos of mannequins, I must post them at some stage & perhaps put with your interesting collection. Love the strong colours here, they make a statement. Nice one

what an interesting document of a lifestyle! The composition is excellent and these fascinating colors are creating a nice mood. I also like the title! Thanks for sharing!

how could I have missed this picture!!:)
it's curious that all these mannequins are "people" with heads and arms and all that... whereas one of them is just a "headless" coat-rack :)
Comparing Moscow with other cities is pretty useless, imho. They always will be from different ages - and often seem to be of different cultures!
Moscow (I mean Moscow City only - not its suburbs!) is like a state within a state, and Moscow is not a typical representative of the whole Russia. Alas! (or fortunately, maybe?? LOL )
warm greetings from "the state within a state",
