Photographer’s Note

The full name of this attractive Russian Orthodox Church, is "Khram Uspenya Bozhey Materi Orthodox Church". It sits in central Khabarovsk in the Russian far east. Taken with a 28mm lens, & polarized.

Khabarovsk is 700 km north of Vladivostok. From Dalgeo Tours:

A very good capture of this most interesting looking building. The church is nicely positioned in the frame and the lamp posts make good 'bookends'. Very good colours and clarity.

Hello Chris,

Intriguing capture of this ornate Russian building. Lighting is managed well to illuminate the facade evenly. Sharpness is good with a smooth quality in the sky. Interesting to note the variety of cars, I was somewhat expecting to see many mass-produced Russian varieties but perhaps I need to get out of that mindset. Good management of ratio, the small FG boosts the importance of sky. Colours are realistic and pleasant.

Tu vas trop vite, je n'arrive plus à suivre ;o)
Ta balade en Russie me plait pourtant beaucoup car je n'ai pas visité ce pays même si je m'en suis relativement approché.
Les couleurs de l'église sont superbes.
Je remarque qu'il y a toujours de vieilles Lada en circulation ;o)

Good translation of this name is Church of the Repose of the Virgin. Dark name, in my humble opinion, but very widely used since XII century.
Good photo! Colorful and bright. Note is also good as always.

Wonderful architecture that you have presented beautifully. Your composition is great with an excellent POV. The lighting and colors are fine with excellent sharpness and detail. The only problem is the cars in the way, but there is not much you could do about it.

Hi Chris - first, the church is fantastic in your shot, colorful, sharp, impressive; then, the interesting scene again in the parking lot - as a surprise, that brown car from old times (Lada?) standing out as a remainder of another period... generally speaking I actually prefer the inclusion of cars, as they give us an idea of the natural context of a landmark, as you've done here, even obtaining a nice diagonal line... thanks for sharing :) Daniel

I like the architecture of this work.

The colors are very well defined, an excellent contrast and sharpness, and the view is superb.

I would have loved to see the scene of free cars, but in the end, it is a good job.

This is a most unusual piece of church architecture, and the colours are amazing!

And I notice the classic Lada still exists!

un bâtiment qui a beaucoup d'élan et de majesté à la fois.
La photo est nette et super bien exposée, les voitures gênent un peu.
Les couleurs sont bien saturées et séduisantes.
