Photographer’s Note

Another view of the World War Two memorial in Komsomolsk On Amur. The Red Army soldier at left has a helmut with a star.

Over 20 million Russians died during WWII. Soldiers in the Russian Far East fought against Japan.

The previous upload reminded me of Mount Rushmore or Deep Purple in Rock.

Hello Chris,
Fine details have been captured in the stone work!
A simple composition, few colours... But the fine framing makes an attractive image with good details!

Hi Chris,
nice view on two of the faces of stone, I like the excellent textures full of contrasts. The grey makes also a wonderful contrast against that blue sky.

Deep Purple in Rock! - I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought of that when I first saw this. Impressive monumnet, I think because of the feeling of gritty determination that it communicates, due to the fact that it is a close up of the faces instead of full body figures. Nicely captured.

Hey Chris. I just love the way the white contrast against that deep blue sky. Because of the strong sharpness and textures I think this might work well as b/w even though I love the sky. tfs!

Bonjour Chris,
tu as souvent de la chance avec la météo, une fois de plus, tu nous offres un ciel bien bleu qui surplombr bien cette sculpture bien contrastée dans les lumières.
Les ombres apportent un relief embellisseur.
Une photo très nette.

It would not have been easy to capture the details of the sculptures on the grey stone. The shadows give a 3D effect. This IMO would look good in B&W as well, but then you're a colour guy. The sky colour is amazing. Good work!
