Photographer’s Note

Komsomolsk-on-Amur, is a purpose built town, planned in the 1950's, to populate the Russian Far East.

"During the 20th century, the city developed into a regional centre for industries such as metallurgy, machinery, oil refining, and shipbuilding. The aircraft construction company Sukhoi has significant works based in the city. It hosts Khurba air base south of the city and Dzemgi air base to the north. Population: 281,035 (2002 Census)."

Hello Chris,
I like very much the idea to include into the frame the reflection as a foreground.Adding much more beauty to this excellent architecture composition.Nice color tonality,especialy in the blue!

This is a very pretty church you present us with today. I like the use of the vertical format and the glimmer of a reflection in the puddle. I just wonder why the left hand edge is cut off. Very good colours and clarity.

Great shot of this church! I think that orthodox churches are the most beautiful and interesting, with their colour and ornate decoration. This one is particularly beautiful with a great sense of verticality from those lines of the windows all leading the eye upward. Nice work!

Clever use of the reflection in the water as your foreground ... very good POV. The brightly colored roof makes this church standout and look interesting. I like the ramp leading to the church ... it leads ones focus. Good depth and contrast and so as image quality. Wonderfully captured and composed. Well done! tfs

Hello Chris

I am always fascinated about the fact that teh russians use to bring their typical architectural styles all the way to the far east, and make so that their cities look like their big ones in Europe. I like the reflections and even the second bulding which gives some depth to the pretty church.

Your picture is an inspiraton for me I will post a picture from Russia today. Izzet
