Photographer’s Note

A rundown cabin, beside the river in Tynda, a town of 44,000, purposely built to service the Baikal Amur Mainline, (B.A.M.), which was built in the 70's, to provide an auxilliary line to the TSR. In 1974, Russia & China were almost at the point of war. The Trans Siberian Railway runs close to the Chinese border for much of it's length.

Across the river, beside the smokestacks, is Tynda Railway Station.
