Photographer’s Note
A rundown cabin, beside the river in Tynda, a town of 44,000, purposely built to service the Baikal Amur Mainline, (B.A.M.), which was built in the 70's, to provide an auxilliary line to the TSR. In 1974, Russia & China were almost at the point of war. The Trans Siberian Railway runs close to the Chinese border for much of it's length.
Across the river, beside the smokestacks, is Tynda Railway Station.

Hello Chris,
Funny, this scenery kind of reminds me of Borat's home town with the ramshackle houses and industrial core. Good photograph however, the stream naturally separates the scene effectively. The line of the collapsing fence is a prominent portion of the frame; I like the shadows it casts. Excellent sharpness, a good scan. Congratulations.

Hello Chris,
An interesting composition, where the old cottage contrasts well with the industrial site across the river!
A well balanced composition with a fine feeling of depth, good details in the old wooden cabin!

Hello Chris,
A good composition of this rustic and rather dilapidated cabin. The contrast with the industrial chimneys across the river adds a little touch of humour. Thanks for sharing.

hi chris,
interesting finding both in terms of its historical meaning (and the decaying house symbolizing a collapse of certain era) and also in terms of the present value of it - makes me think about time passing and inevitable fate of all of us who will be gone one day...
best wishes, j.

Interesting following this trip Chris to the far away places telling storyes of a life in not the most urban regions. Good contrast here by the old cabin and background more modern industrial setting.

Hi Chris,
I would call this a fully landscape integrated fence. Good view down with the house and river and the background chimneys are a bit strange here. I like the clear impression of heavy sunlight and the glancing of the river.

Great shot! I like the contrast between the old cabin and the modern power plant across the river. The river in fact does a nice job of dividing the frame between the two sides. Nice work!

Hi Chris, A good composition showing the old and the new (coal fired power station) in the same frame. This series has shown us many new places in a very huge and remote region. Good perspective. TFS. Murray.
