Unsure of exact location somewhere between Frankfurt and Beijing. The cabin crew just called it Moscow but quite south of that city i am sure. It seems in an often so-called over-crowded world there are enormous areas like this which looks much like the Antarctica. We flew over this sort of country for around 2 hours so it may be around 1000 km wide at least?

Brrrr! But does make a beautiful picture. I love the very pretty shades of blue. TFS

Hello Murray! Amazing light and shadow. Wonderful colors. Original effect. Interesting picture. Good luck!

Hi Murray,
Lovely photo and the cool blues and shadows are great, and really suit the subject. It's great to know there are still places with no names, or names no-one cares to learn, that no-one much visits. It looks stunning, I want to go there!
Regards
Lee

Hi Murray, there is something about a mountain shot like this that make you realize just how small you really are. It reminds me of the Rockies, though from the sounds of it, it is much larger. I like the vastness of it, you don't see ranges or anything here, just mile after mile of mountains in every direction. Incredible view.

Thanks, John

Hi Murray. I always love aerial photos, the world looks far more surreal from altitude. Wonderful colours and patterns. Thanks for sharing.
Cheers, Paul.

Hi Murray,

A good capture of the frozen scenery taken from the aircraft. The different designs in the snow are assets to the composition. The reflection of the light on the snow has a good effect on the colors. Have a nice day.

Pierre

Murray,
your precision in pointing out where you took the shot is simply fantastic. Somehwere between Frankfurt and Beijing? LOL!
Whenever I fly from California to Europe or back I see similar landscape over Greenland or Canada. It astonishes me always to see the vastness of this world being in some manner huge deserts.
Peter
