Photographer’s Note

A Russian fisherman, on Lake Baikal, has spotted me taking a photo of the lake, & has started waving to me. Taken very late afternoon, just before sundown. The first reddish tinges, are just starting to show in the clouds. I liked the strong backlight here, too.

Marvelous one! I love it for its colours and light but specially for such simple and lovely motive. Small pier just for this small boat and friendly fisherman with illuminated sparkles when sea reaching the land. In simplicity greatest beauty is hidden. :)

I like your simplistic approach here ... although the boat and fisherman only occupies a small part of the image, you've cleverly manage to make it the focal point of interest.... I like that wooden plank pointing to the boat. Well composed ...excellent work! tfs

Great picture. I like how you have the fisherman in the center of the picture (I know thats not just by chance, I'm just saying I like that!) To me, this is a very peaceful picture, and I like that!

It was a nice spot of the fisherman and, of course, of the photographer. Both combine created a good picture with a good POV and a excellent control of an harsh light. Well done.

Nice one, Chris, a simple capture but full of mood... maybe a lower pov would work better in this case, together with cropping off some of the sky to increase depth...

nice moment with good texture of the water surface and the Hello Hand is the point of this one. Good diagonal lines for a "V" even incomplete.

Hello Chris,

Your shots of Lake Baikal have served as a learning experience for us. I don't know if any other TE member has posted photographs from the great lake. The backlight in this instance creates a surrealistic scene.

Lovely silhouette of the fisherman...the cool colours are excellent. Like the small details of the wooden plank on the shore and the lapping waves & the hill in the BG. Good work!
