Photographer’s Note
Karl Marx Street in Irkutsk. A nice change from the rain & overcast conditions, in this gentrified precinct of the Siberian city of Irkutsk. The imposing Drama Theatre in the background. More images & info here:

Hello Chris,
A beautiful, colorful shot by brilliant late afternoon sunlight. I imagine the building is late 19th century, or dating back to the era of the Czars. You are perhaps the only TE-member posting these shots from Siberia, and I am grateful to learn a little about this region inaccessible to Westerners all through the Cold War and before. Well composed, beautifully illuminated view.
Warm regards,
Bulent

I thought that those old names would have disappeared by now! The building looks impressive and that part of town is very nice. How is it elsewhere? You have here a very nice picture with good colours and a nice sky indeed. Well done.

Hi Chris,
how many people in Irkutsk may really know Karl Marx? I like this capture of the colurful buidling with the rich green before it and some life by the people. Good play of light and shadow in wonderful sharpness.

Hi Chris,
good to see such a surprising daily life picture of Irkutsk. A nice square with trees and a lot of sunshine, a beautiful theatre so different from the far-away and ice cold image of the city.

Olá Chris, very well composed foreground with the shadows and people, although the main subject is in the BG. Nice to found out the monumental and colorful architecture through the forest of trees.

Nice daily life scene in another remote Russian city, very good balance achieved in the shot with the two benches and different scenes on them, and the typical Russian architecture between them. Really good, I like it!

Hello Chris,
With you, we don't really need to go there, you bnring us constantly pictures of such remote places that we will probably never visit in this lifetime: Mobgolia, Vladivostok, places in Korea, Baikal Lake and now this other one, Irkutsk. If you had asked me to gues, I would kave said Russia or Ukraine, but never would I think about Siberia. Good picture which shows well what this place looks like, parcs and elegant bulidings.
Keep sending the good stuff - Izzet
