Fairy-tale fortress Photo

Photographer’s Note

In 1660-s and 1670-s Archbishop of Rostov, Iona son of Sisoy created the archbishop's residence, designed like a fortress. Actually, at this time Rostov was out of any danger from foreign enemies, so this fortess, with white walls and towers, with hundreds of decorated roofs, domes and crosses was just a huge decoration.
Now it's one of the centers of Golden Ring - chain of traditional Russian towns. This place is like a fairy-tale, actually.
Here is a shot of the one of the towers of Rostov, standing not far from the shore of beautiful Nero lake.

God photo, great contrasting colours, you took from a good angle,the wall on left gives a good frame to leed into the main part of your photo, the roofs are fairy tale right enough.

Hallo!
Here I like especially this nice point of view - and of course this interesting and impressive building. I've never seen a white castle. The architecture really is amazing - in comparison with a castle here in central Europe.

Ага, сказочно! В словацких Бойницах есть замок, там тоже кучу сказок сняли. Ну там про рыцарей, а тут про богатырей. Диванчики тоже остались от тех времён?
