the Rolex time, a photo from Moscow, Center

Photographer's Note

For some time I've been quite thoughtful and hesitating: which photo to post next... especially my next photo of Stockholm. I hope to decide this during the weekend.

Meanwhile, I decided to post quite a simple shot of Moscow taken in the very centre of the city:
Mokhovaya Street.. and Hotel National on the left :-)
The National hotel was built in 1903 by famed Russian architect Alexander Ivanov.
If you look to the right, you will see the Kremlin..

I shot this by chance with my Nokia 6233 1,3mpx camera, so please don't get too upset with the poor quality of this photo! :) I was merely trying to capture the moment...

Gotta rush to work now. Hopefully, I will be more free during the weekend! looking forward to it :)

By the way, it's raining heavily in Moscow now.

Nice to shot the woman in red providing colour to the scene, good point of view for this compositionwhere buildings are drawing an urban design against sky...very beautiful composition...

Hi Elena.
Very strong perspective and a great combination of colours, making the girl as the focal point really stand out. It looks C-O-L-D! Maybe I would crop some off the top, to just above the lamp. But that's a minor point. Very nicely timed, and good quality for a phone camera.

Hello Elena,
A simple but very attractive shot. I love to watch dull weather which gives the colours such warm and pleasant tones. The woman in red, the man in black and the distant approaching woman with a white shawl form a kind of triangle which I also find nice to watch.

You seem to have a pretty amazing mobile phone camera. Other than some of the branches of the tree to the left everything is in perfect focus. The buildings are typical of Moscow - a neutral colour and less then 10 stories high. However the lady in red brightens the scene - and brightens the cold day. Tfs, Marlene

Hi Elena,
A very good photo, something I would have like to take myself (without going to Moscow...) You have included two crossing diagonals here, the "ugly" cables make one of them together with the stone pattern on the left side of the pavement. And of course, this lady in red, the real eye-catcher, excellently placed at the third! Many fascinating details to enjoy here too, like this Rolex sign!

I love Moscow. Previously, I lived more than a year in moscow. Smolenskaya metro was around my house. very nice color to your photos have red colors. Congratulations.

Hej Elena,

I love your play with the lines and I also like the rainy day mood very much. The lady in red is also of course a real eye-catcher. However, personally I would have taken a 2nd photo some moments later. The reason is the all the lines lead-in to the red car. Also the postioning of the lady is leading in too the red car. You are sort of looking beyond her. Therefore I would have liked to see her positioned more to the left. In a WS I have tried to show where all the lines meet a why you tend to focus on the red car rather on the eye catching lady in red. I really hope you understand what I mean. At the same time I am fully aware of that this was a snapshot where you had to take quick decision. TFS and have nice Sunday evening!

a very poetic picture,
the red lady in gray world, she herself is picturesque in this cold town view,
and left black man and right white "ROLEX" are well contrasted with her in your nice composition,
it seems an actual scene but something illusionary in my visual feeling,

Hello Elena,

It is unfortunate that the cameras on cell phones aren't just a bit better. On the other hand this is a great image. I really like how the lady n red jumps out of the gray surroundings. I'm impressed by how much she stands out. Very well done.

Hello Elena,

I think you captured the moment perfectly.

The moment I saw the thumbnail, I thought of Chris De Burgh's song "A Lady in Red" and a that it reminded me of a scene from a Russian spy movie - with the man in black being "the contact".

I like how the Russian architecture frames the top of the shot, and how the darker sky and wet pavement, brighten up the buildings.

that ladu in red is really a stunner. Of the weather, she poses herself in that attractive scene. It is not her actually, it is you who composed the scenery beautifully. Nice placed subjects and your Rolex time too.
Besides all those, what i like most is the ability to see and wander throughout the street with a clear view.
Nice street shot in excellent presentation.

Elenka I think to myself that you, you did a fantastic image matrix 100 pixels. No, not joking. You must be a really good photographer to do as good photo camera with the Nokia. You will get there and you can not even occurred to me that this photo was taken with the camera Nokia 6233. For this you were not nice weather. The day was rather rainy. I thought even that was thanks to this weather is so nice picture has been exposed. Red coat, women on the sidewalk and publicity for the Rolex on the truck itself perfectly to prevail. You are a true champion, not only in the field of photography.
In Mosina raining and rather English weather. even the dog decided to sleep all day.

I think that I would like it to live Moscow, because one sees quite pretty fair and red silhouettes there not to pass unperceived, without ideology. Rolex publicity testify to the economic dynamism of the city and the existence of the opulence of part of the population. It is beautiful and good realization, interesting. Cheer.

The woman in red, there was a song or movie with a similar title, isn't it? It's a winter shot, it shows, but this woman makes the difference. It looks a bit cold and wet - fine composition and execution. Well done

Thanks for your critique of my fish market shot from Penang. I framed the shot like this, because otherwise you would see not only the umbrellas but also the completely white sky. On this morning, the sky was almost white, so I avoided to include the sky at any cost.
