Photographer’s Note

...In year 1645 rich merchant Kirill Isakov, who traded with English merchants, received a shipment of paint in barrels. To his surprise, one of the barrels was full not of paint, but of gold coins.
Merchant decided to spent this unexpected money to construct a church; thus this one, Church of Resurrection on Debri, was erected.
***
Church is big, covered with reliefs and Dutch tiles. Inside it's very dark and it seemed to me that the walls are also black, but later I saw that all the walls are covered with frescoes, starting from the bottom and getting to the very top of it; the impression is really quite special.
