Photographer’s Note
Sometimes wood withstood more damage and years than even stoneworks. Here's one of the most ancient buildings in all Volga Region and surely most ancient one in all city of Kostroma.
***
It's a Church of Our Lady, built in 13 October 1552.
In this year Mongol capital Kazan was beseiged and stormed by Russian army, led by Ivan the Terrible. Lot of warriors from Kostroma fought in this war, thus this church was erected, most likely, to commemorate this epic event - the final fall of Golden Horde, after hundreds of years of battles between Ancient Rus and Great Steppe.

Hello Uhu,
An interesting piece of church architecture, build from timber log in an unusual design!
I wonder if the onions have been added later as the design seems to differ from the rest of the structure...
Good details in the composition!
