Photographer’s Note

Tzar's Gate, or Royal Door - special door in Orthodox churches before the sanctuary. In humble village's churches it's humble, in great cathedrals it's richly decorated - but all in all it's one of the most decorated and sacred parts of the temple, being open only at certain ceremonies and by the highest clergy.

Behold the Royal Doors of Trinity Cathedral in Hypatian Monastery in Kostroma. Here's a Baroc decor, made in XVIII century. On six medallions are: Four Evangelists, upper right - Theotokos and upper left - Gabriel.
It's one of the richest decorated Royal Doors that I ever saw, it's all made of gilted carved wood.
