while one of the flight attendants on this CebuPac flight from zamboanga to cebu was delivering the following announcements, i was busy composing this frame.
simply put, these announcements meant: "ladies and gentlemen, in a few minutes we will be touching down mactan international airport. please make sure that your seat is on its original upright position and your safety belt fastened. cellphones and video cameras are not allowed until after the aircraft has come to a complete stop. thank you and we look forward to seeing you again in one of your many future flights with Cebu Pacific"....

I usually do not critique airplane photos... but because the sharpness of this one on the wing I will do it... looks like there was no window!
well done, page neighbour today
belido (19934) 2007-12-18 6:07
you probably saw a post of mine with this subject but this is the result I was expecting on my image. The clarity is what pleases me most. Nice inclusion of the wing to break those clouds. Beautiful!
MichaelHal (234) 2007-12-18 9:59
was your window open ? ... rarity to see such a pic with this sharpness and clarity... well done
BennyV (12767) 2007-12-18 13:41
Exceptional clarity. A great shot.
stego (22556) 2007-12-18 14:20
It's amazing to see that this one doesn't suffer from any of the two most common negative issues of airplane shots: compo and sharpness. Both are excellent. The clouds and the islands below combine very nicely and, like Bruno says, one wonders how it was possible to make such a shot from a tiny round window.
woozbman (366) 2007-12-18 20:57
Wow, how did you memorize what the flight attendant said? So taking still photographs is allowed? I'm glad, otherwise this photo wouldn't be here.
abulafia (4900) 2007-12-18 22:51
There is an amazing sharpness in this one, specially considering it was taken through a window:)
I like that you included the wing and engine, usually when people take pictures, like that, they concentrate on the view only.

This is exciting!! Only days left until I'll be landing there myself :) I'm getting VERY excited!!! I'm amazed how clear this is. WOW! Fantastic picture! TFS

So you totally ignored the announcement regarding the use of camera ... naughty man :) Siguro gusto mo lang mapansin ka sa magandang stewardess, Bay :) Yes I myself am grateful for the discount fares nowadays ... makes travelling more affordable. Hope you enjoyed your holiday in Cebu. Anyway, nice POV here. Wonderfully captured and presented. Image quality is also good. Merry X'mas and a Happy New Year dinha sa inyo, Bay! tfs

it surprises the great clearness to me and brightness of the photography, is excellent. The quality of the image emphasizes clouds, they are perfect, and also the colors and diversity of tonalities of the sky. Great note also, amused and informative.

That's a hoot. I would always listen to the PA flight announcement and see whether I could still understand it. And sure enough I still do. Sharp focus on the wing and the clouds are lovely. Best regards, Danilo

Voilà qui fait l'envie de prendre l'air !

Olá Benedict, very nice one taken from the plane. I allways ask for a window and if the weather is good I can be hours looking at the view. Love the effect of that carpet of clouds. The quality is pretty good and I like the framing with the engine and wing. It almost seems that you are on top of the plane, outside, catching the wind :)))) Excellent presentation.
Um abraço, festas felizes e feliz ano novo!

The main issue for shooting a scene like this is to get a window seat with a reasonably clean window, looks like Cebupac is working hard to ensure photographers have good inflight shooting conditions ;-)
Nice & luminous view, well exposed, I like the inclusion of the plane parts to set the context.
Merry Christmas !
Photo65Net (43120) 2007-12-21 10:30
Amazing plane view !
So great depth, with impressive clouds perspective.
noogy (1074) 2007-12-21 18:40
in one word - STUNNING! the clarity, the composition and the spontaneous WOW it brings are all tops! cheers and thanks for sharing :-)

paololg (31442) 2007-12-22 13:22
this photo give me really so much joy, because I love to fly. The shot is very clear and the colors are magnificent. Is a photo that makes me dream. You have really done a beautiful job.
I wish good Christmas you and your family.

I hate flying..scares everything in me.
This is a nice shot, like what Bruno40 said, it looks as though you took this shot outside the plane! colors are nice too, very vivid
horatiuTT (4568) 2008-01-02 23:12
Incredible view with a fantastic level of detail, perfect clarity for the airplane and we can see from a very nice perspective the
clouds and the water.Well done and TFS!

It's quite difficult to take a good shot behind an airplane window. This one is excellent... Good sharpness and very good colors.
The wide-angle lens for this shot was also a good choice.
Happy new year,
rigoletto (30478) 2008-01-04 14:14
This is like taken from a spacecraft Benny!
Great Santa Claus POV, superb fish eye distortion and razor sharpness.
vedra (0) 2008-01-11 1:54
This is a pretty bright image taken through the plane window (I usually have problems with steamed plane windows). In general I prefer not to see parts of the plane in such shots, but here the wing is so meticuously captured, while the sea and the land down there didn't loose it appeal either.
mphotographies (1976) 2008-01-15 0:02
Seem you were part of the crew Ben! Yeah was the window open? Or you took the shot before you jumped?! hehehe (just kidding mate) You seem to be in control of your shot, the composition is well managed, your 15mm is amazing, takes a good photographer to work such a shot!
All the best!
giorgimer (34512) 2008-01-17 14:09
I like both the clauds over the land and the engine in the FG.
Very well done!
konok (2020) 2008-01-27 13:27
Photographing through the airplane window is always very difficult. Therefore, this one is incredibly good.
elkab (4921) 2008-02-03 4:08
Wow! Very exciting photo! Interesting composition and very good sharpnes.
brevbrev14 (140) 2008-05-13 5:13
Hi Benedict, very good image and i like the use of the fish-eye here..a ver good quality and view
jorgi (3810) 2008-11-27 23:56
there is sth in this photo that captivates me completely.
Maybe is the magnificent view from the plane...maybe is this hypnotic blue and clouds below us...or maybe is a silver-like tone that makes is a little cold, less flashy but more precious and special. I do not know exactly but it really impresses me.
As for technical point of view, is flawless.
