Photographer’s Note
This is a pretty common view along many of the roads I travelled on Cebu Island. Small markets along the road with several vendors and lots of activity.
Here you see a vendor with a barbeque for meat and hanging rice to that. Most likely you can get vegetables as well, if not try with the next vendor.
Taken during a trip between Cebu City and Island in the Sky so I do not know the exact location.

Hej harko
A thing I find out with the philippines was the lack of "really" nice food comparing to the rest of south-east asia. a lot of caserolls slowly steaming in open air looking in some cases deadly. or hamburger that could get a tiger to became a vegan. I spend time in areas where multinationals like Doyle and Del Monte had huge factorys but couldn't get fresh fruits at the local market. It's sad in a lot of ways.

ps.good picture anyhow

Hi Harko, Great shot. The details and colours are great!
Whilst i don't want to spark an arguement with Molla, I do want to to say my opinion. I of course know my fair share on Filipino Cuisine, I also have some friends who are Chef's specialising in the cuisine. I think you really have just been in the wrong place at the wrong time.. I have also travelled s.e asia a lot, And im not saying the Food in the Philippines is the best, IM saying, It's not below standards of other countries in the area. But i do agree, We eat some wild things! hehehe.
It's not a surprise that you where turned off the Hamburgers, I keep mental note to avoid such stalls and restaurants.. You really cannot classify a Foriegn Food, A Hamburger, As Filipino Food Either.
I don't know your situation regarding the Fruit. Sometimes it can be a bit stressfull getting the right ingredients and all that, But once again, Its all down to Luck.
I have had the problem, and i have had perfect trips with not a single problem. We too run a small restuarant on Marinduque, And Ingredients can be a Problem.
But I respect your opinion, I hope next time if you return, You can find some Better Food for your taste :)
Regards!

Hi Harko,
A good daily life photo, very common in the provinces of Philippines.
Regading the argument about food in Philippines; we have to divide the type of food. If you can afford it, one can eat VERY well in Philippines, not only local but also international couisine. Top quality, and very cheap (for european or US standards).
However, for "street food", the one that average pinoy eats everyday, the quality in taste and variety is way below other SE Aasian countries.
I can eat for less than US$1, very tasty food, seating in the walkway of any street in Saigon, Bangkok, or Jakarta. But I cannot say the same for the streets of Manila.
Anyway, it is a matter of taste after all.
have a nice weekend
Jorge

Hoi Harko,
Bedankt!
Prettig weeknend,
John.

Hi Harko,
Nice daily life view of action going on in these stands, you have good light measurement in these conditions, but I find the head of the boy too intrusive.
Have a nice day JY
