Photographer’s Note
It's the tail end of the rainy season, so it's grey most afternoons, and occasional rainshowers still fall.
This was taken just outside my grandmother's house where I am staying. It was a sunny afternoon and I was talking with my cousin who was fixing his motorbike, then the rain just dumped down on us. I thought for sure that it would stop in seconds as the sun was still beaming down. It didn't.
The neighbour kids took full advantage of it though, and they had a great time playing in the rain.

Perfect moment captured. Sure does feel wet! This probably looked quite nice in colour too but the B&W gives it a timeless feel.

Alex,
You are back in your best elements here. The adorable boys taking a soaking, your vantage point gives a key-hole view in their happy moment. Your handling of the tonality is just right, with that beautiful glow of reflected light rendered really well.
Beautiful photo.

"Ang sarap magtampisaw sa tubig!" I remember the days when I was young. The longer the rain, the better. A wet and superb shot!

Nice shot, Alex! Monsoon paradise. Lovely the way you thread the shot through the palm leaves and the heavy rain. God control over focus and fine compo overall.
best,
Francis

Brilliant work again Alex, so much depth to the image here with the plant right in front of us to the building blocks into the distance. Certainly brings back some good childhood memories of playing in the rain.

Nice work Alex!
I like how you framed this scene, your focus and DOF, both very well done. Although there is a bit of oe in the sky and roofs in the top left, it doesn't bother much. The watermark is maybe too big, IMO.
Well done

Great shot Alex! In a perfect b&w. The idea of framing this through the leaves was a really nice idea as it creates some layers and depth on top of it. The scene itself was enough to captivate me, but the way you portrait it is even better. Like it a lot.
I sent you an email asking you for a photo session in Toronto, but now I know why you didn't reply. You're miles away...

Perfect, I love it, so damp and so monsoonesque, I can almost sniff the wet soil odor, that almost rotten smell that is characteristic of these rainy days. where nothing seems to dry, although the sun scorches your skin whenever a beam gets its way between the clouds.
Both nicely textured foreground and the informative background are excellent. Also a very convincing BW, good solid blacks with lots of contrasts. A pretty good one.

Hi Alex,
You have an excellent gallery here on TE! I don't know how I managed to miss it for this long... I had spotted your username though (very catchy).
I like this very nicely composed image. I also like how it really looks like it's raining hard, it's not always easy to put forward on a photo! And what I like most is definitely the atmosphere, it feels of monsoon, hot sticky day, hard rain and happy kids. I can almost hear the plic plac ploc of the rain drops.
Nice one!
I'll come back to you gallery soon and will "fav'" you straight away!
Nicolas
