Photographer’s Note

This is a typical fishing village scene in Leyte, a province in the Visayan cluster of islands. I have forgotten the town's name but I should say it's close to Tacloban, the capital city. I had rented a motorbike and traversed the area for several days and stopping in appealing spots like this. At the time, I had no particular itinerary, the kind of vacation I have always wanted - no rush and no structured plans. Although people complain about local economy, I envy the local residents for they live in a beautiful place where the weather is always warm and the water is inviting.

Maybe the reality is something else, but this has to be one of the most idyllic scenes I've seen for a long time. A very good composition which captures everything: boats, people, a hut, dense tropical vegetation, water, nice clouds - you name it.

Hi Dan,
I often go through my RP photos to remind myself of what I'm missing. What appeals to me with these rural areas is the simplicity and uncomplicated living ... something we yearn for living in a busy lifestyle. Wonderfully captured and composed. You must have take thousands of RP photos because you seem not to run out:) Hope all is well for you ... possibly another tropical holiday is needed :)

Lovely framing excellent detail and light management. I find your version more real than the WS. Partly it's because I don't like losing any of that stunning sky but also because I think the less contrasty version suits the beautiful tropical scene. When I would return to Maui from the mainland, the air always felt soft to me. Now here in the high desert, the colors are bright and contrasty and the air is sharp and dry. It sounds like a dream vaction.

This is a beautiful shot of an idyllic looking Paradise. You had a good POV with a nice balance between the foreground trees and also the forest on the right with the little island. You had beautiful light and colours.
