Fisherman's Gear Photo

Photographer’s Note

Photo was taken during low tide in Bantayan Island. This native boat (banca) looks unsafe but fishermen use it to go for miles into the sea to catch fish. The gear they use looks rudimentary but this is only what they can afford to use. The island is reported to be within the migration route of fish coming from the equatorial belt of China Sea, thus fishing is one of the main industry.

Hi Renier. Good documentary photo. People do what has to be done with whatever they can afford I suppose. Well captured with good composition, colour and detail. Thanks for sharing.

Nice saturation of palm trees on the background. The colours and the light in this picture are very good. I enjoy this image because of the way of life it shows. Fishermen resort to many little gadgets to make a living. Good composition. Thanks Renier.

Wonderful capture of this traditional fishing vessel of the Philippines. Very nice colors with exceptional details. I love the strong green backdrop of the hardy palm trees. This is dangerous hard work with small rewards but it seems a lovely environment to toil in.
