Photographer's Note

In my last stay in the Philippines, I went to Payatas, the place where the largest dumpsite in Metro Manila. Like Pied Piper, I was trailed by children. They wanted to have me take their picture. I told them I will provided they give me a "something-new" pose. This girl ran behind the red curtain. Something new...well, not for me. But I couldn't refuse such a disarming smile and a beautiful face.

I look your very interesting yesterday picture (girl with cat), in this picture is maybe same girl but hair looks like mirrored?
Good light again, inside red rose frames. Normally we put more free space to the look side, but in this case no matter, so fine picture.
In that age, no worrying about missing tooth.
Sympathetic.

Well, this kind of portraits are portraits filling the lack of something in other portraits, which means it is PERFECT!
The red colours so dominant, the white teeth shining and the missing tooth charastiristic.

As usual a great image. I would like to know if you use flash because although it is not mentioned in your info, I think it would be difficult to get the results you post without it.

Today, we learned on the news that typhoon Xangsane struck the central Philippines, leaving nearly 2,500 ferry passengers stranded as gusts of up to 150 km (94 miles) per hour kept boats in harbour.

This is indeed a very lovely photo. The colors and the girl's expression makes the photo almost perfect. Perhaps, a shoot of full body or halve would give clearer view and wider room for audience to 'participate' with the object. However, this is very very good already.
