Photographer’s Note
On this narrow dirt road, I parked my rented motorbike from a distance to give way and take photograph of the two brothers with a carabao (water buffalo). I was excited about the photo op, and was feeling good as I snapped a few photos. They passed, waved , smiled, and carried on. I returned to my parked motorbike but it wouldn’t start. A gasoline leak! And my tank was empty. Well, to make the story short, the boys came to the rescue. I hitched my bike to the sled, and the boys gave me a ride to the nearest gasoline station where their mother works as a cashier.
I later found that Carlos is nine y.o. and that his younger brother, Ramon, is seven. They help their father with the farm work during summer. I gave them a few bucks for their help. I saw them again the following day. Their mother insisted that I come for a family dinner. I could not refuse. Such hospitality!

Hi Danilo,
Love this daily life shot. The composition is very nice using the road as a lead and the focus on the boys works. I must have had such a nice time in their company!

Nice Photo Danilo.
Very humorous scene of young Buffalo boy.
I like the scene & character ridding on Buffalo, I found more interesting the cart with out wheels pulled by the buffalo.
Use f/8 you manager to keep background with enough strong DOF.
Two other children at random position at background & one guy with White shirt really looks nice.
Small hut with brown grass adding the sense of Country life.
Well done.
As far as my view point concerned for this shot, I feel the boy ridding the Un-wheeled cart equally interesting as Buffalo boy.
Which I was strangely missing in this shot, bit hidden.
To move more to your left & let allow boy at least 2/3 of his in this shot & allow his action in more better way taking animal more to left would be more appropriate.
Nice work.
Nice rich shot with lot of green color.
well done

I really like this shot, keeping the main boy on the left and having just enough in focus to tell what his daily environment is like, very nicely done.

Beautiful photo, Danilo! The composition is perfect putting your main "subject" in on of the strongest spots of the frame. Great focus too, right in the eye of the child on the buffalo. A really impressive daily life scene. Very good use of the road as a guiding line and very interesting background. Overall a great job!
Congratulations!

Great capture of daily life, so typical for the region! The carabao must be an amazing animal, a big beast but very friendly...
Pleasant composition with great clarity in colours and fine details!

What a day you had, Danilo. Great experience that you'll never forget. Such hospitality that is very rare here on latitude.
A nice scene from the countryside. The boy on the buffalo and the younger one on the home made truck :O) The light is nice and soft.

Hi Danilo. You've got plenty of DOF for all of that depth. There's also lots of dynamics which are always a good thing. The path makes for a great leading line too.

hola danilo
linda historia la que contaste, me encanto,
me sorprendio que los nombres de los niños sean tan familiares, casi como aqui en mi pais,
la foto esta buena, pero le falta mas contraste, o mas saturacion, le falta un poco mas+
saludos

Dear Danilo
This picture is a great one in the spirit of TE..you've shown daily life with these wonderful children & your note is indeed touching. Isn't this type of warmth typically Asian? Unfortunately we're losing these values fast in the name of modernisation.

Hi Danilio,
Great shot with good detail in both the water buffalo and the serious driver. The story makes it much better; you got a lot of milage out of a photo and a leaky gas tank. I think the best times on a trip have been when things go wrong and you're jarred out of your comfortable rut. That's why we don't like to overplan when we travel.

Hi Danilo,
Great story and a nice pic of daily life in rural parts of the Philippines. I'm surprised at the sled being dragged by a water buffallo. Never seen such a contraption before.

This is the sort of photograph that I like to take, Danilo, depicting daily life in rural Asia, and getting 'off the beaten track' away from the tourists is the way to do it. Your composiiton is good (although it is a pity part of the face of the boy on the sled is obscured) and f8 was spot-on for this. Very natural colours too. Cheers . . . David

Good composition. "Normally" the buffalo "should" be locate on the right side of the frame as it walks to the left but in this case I like the dirt track splitting the image in half and the background with the people and the shed. My only concern is the child on the carriage which is not visible at first.
