i guess no sea portfoloio is complete without a rice terrace photo.. perhaps another cliched shot but i couldn't resist, it had to come sooner or later..

one of the most magnificent places i've ever travelled to, the photo doesn't do it justice..

p.s. still not quite trusting my monitor, so i uploaded a higher contrast version as a ws... looking for comments (especially if you're an expert on calibrating monitors..)

Hi Mark. I don't think this is a cliched shot. What makes it surpass the cliche is the PoV. Also what gives this photo a special edge is the human activity, especially the chap on the left who seems to be precariously perched on the edge of a precipice. No, not a cliche with its great DoF and detail. Regards, Klaudio

Hello Mark,
A nice POV for this picture.
Nice vivid colors (I found the colors and contrast nice)
Only the green fence in the foreground is little disturbing.
Regards,
Didier

Hi Mark.
I like the vertical view. The composition is good and show to us a good daily life.
Also nice colours.

Regards.

Hi Mark
excellent framing vertical, nice contextualisation..
well done

Szia Mark! I love that you have chosen the vertical format for this magnificient view. The shot is gorgeous. (See, "cliches" can be approached with elegance ;-)
I adore all you have managed to include in this bird's eye-view perspective, and the gorgeous colours. As to me, am a bit leaning towards the WS one, as I usually am drawn to contrasts. I also like your composition, but as I said, the vertical format is really that makes this shot for me.

Very nicely done, Mark. I admire your integhrity in psoting something within the size limits of TE that has TINY poeple in it and a vast panorama around them. Clearly this would lok fabulous blown up huge somewhere. But as it is it's a fine compo with brilliant "true" colors (something I know you work on). And like Luko I have to respect well composed shots that dare to show "small peo;le" rather than the too easy close-ups...
Well done,
Francis
ps. Higher contrast job a little punchietr which, in this case is what the doctor ordered I think...

Hi Mark. First of all, this is so many miles better than any of the rice terrace shots I got in Banaue. I really would like to go back; I am sure I will in time. The only slight nitpick I have here is that the guy on the left and his bag are just a little closer to the edge of the frame than I would prefer. Not a big deal.

Francis is right, this would look better in a bigger format, but not much that can be done there.

This version looks better to me than the workshop. I am on my laptop, which is not as good as my main monitor, but still calibrated and decently accurate.I will try to remember to have a look at this tonight at home.

I would have to agree that the portrait presentation puts this into a different league.

The workshop version has very subtle variations...the blades of grass on the bottom left are somewhat more defined.

Excellent point of view - it looks like a pretty big drop!

i rarely find a banaue shot i enjoy perhaps its because its always a typical
photo. i enjoy this since your foreground is the farmers re-planting
his crop and then the backround shows the breadth of the terraces.

bravo!
