Trisikad Ride Photo

Photographer’s Note

This used to be the most common public transportation means in villages and small towns in rural Philippines… the manpowered tricycle!

The street scene here is from Carcar town in Southeast Cebu… captured a few years ago, and the local name of the device is “trisikad”.

Trisikads are still in use, and being a trisikad driver under the burning sun is very hard but not well-paid work…

Interesting vehicle, it looks like a real tourist attraction.

this reminds me of the rickshaw pullers from india. i'll try to post some pictures in the future.
good color and detail.contrast between the modern and not so modern way of living is well captured.
it seems your pixel size was smaller than usual. is this the case here? just being curious.

A real slice of life showing this form of transpo well. I would hate having someone pedal me around. It must pay better in SD, there are lots of these fellows hanging around downtown Dan Diego, Xuaxo posted a photo of one.

Real street life scene..not uncommon in my country with a variation in form. The strong shadows suggest that you would have taken this shot around noon. The POV is good with the diagonal of the road

So many types of riksha-bike.I saw bikes when a driver seats on the backside, in front side.But i don't saw this Trisikad.

Olá Pablo, interesting trasportation that I didn't know. I guess that "tuk-tuks" are the most common trasportation in Southeast Asia, with engine or manpowered. When it's manpowered, it disturbs a bit the effort they make to transport us, specially if we are full loaded. Good post for the transportation category, although I would like to see them from the front.

Excellent daily life scene. Even if it a very sharp photo it has a feeling of motion. Also very nice a colourful. An alternative picture would have been a verical one with a little less of the white car in the background See WS.

a very harmony shot of they peddlar in blue with the blue trishaw.
The colours are strong and contrasting to give that catchy effect.

I like checking your Philippines galery because it reminds me about the great time I spent there, even to having the chance to visit the touristic areas. I remember to see such particular way of transportation. Very good catch on a daily life scene. Timing and framing could not be better. The colorful Trisikad is perfectly placed in the image and the tight crop leads us directly to it. Very good work on the scanning as well. Thansk for sharing!

interesting meanof transportation. in bolivia and pery the "driver-engine" is located in the back side and the passingers in front of him. nice view despite the strong light of noon
