Rosa again, and her brother Edison - a playfull kid with lots of energy.....he suffers from some sort of skin condition on his forehead; it's always there, as there's no money for any medicine.

Rosa is the child from my 'breakfast on the street' photograph; both of them are homeless, eating & sleeping on the street right where I took this image, right at the base of the wall in the background.

From what I can gather from her limited English, her father lives in Makati (about 20 min away), and I haven't inquired as to where her Mother is, or what has happened to her.


Rosa's auntie makes them breakfast & lunch right there on the street each day - but auntie does not sleep with Rosa & Edison on the street; the kids sleep alone on the sidewalk...this I don't understand.

At night - if I see Rosa out on the street, I'll ask her if she's had her rice for supper...sometimes she says yes, but when she says 'no', I take them both to a street-side coffee shop that has great local food, and they eat with me; I let them choose their supper.

They look out for each other there - Rosa is the eldest and is very attentive to Edison, who's a bit more high strung.

They're both really great kids, and I miss seeing them when I'm here in the USA.
