This was taken at the MegaMall bus stop in Ortigas along with my TL pics: Legs and Shadows and Safety First.

Bus prices are slated to rise in Manila on the last Sunday of this month (saw it on the news this morning before work :) This is due to the continually rising fuel costs in the country. Currently diesel prices are around P28/L. Since my arrival in Feb, prices have gone up 3 or 4 times (P0.25 rise each time if I remember correctly) and this has angered motorists and consumers across the country.

As for this photo, I decided to shoot around a bus stop because I liked the different colours of buses and the diverse group of people. There's something in particular about this shot I like, but find hard to actually verbalize.
I'm constantly surprised by how easy it is to take pics here in the Philippines. Considering that I was weaving and maneuvering and shooting pics of strangers in a crowded bus stop I thought that I would be hassled, but nope. I do get alot of people asking me what publication they'll be in though!

It's a surprising shot from you Alex and I'm happy to see it. Perfect technique (of course) and a very interesting compo. Simply love it.

Hi Alex, the lighting is great here, and the slightly blurred buses are a perfect backdrop for your subject. This is a great shot, my personal preference would have been to see just a little bit more of her face, maybe enough so that her nose was visible, but the fact that her head is turned does help to make it so that the action revolves around the buses here.

The fact that she's turned so far around leads me to think that you caught her when she had done a quick look back. To see if this was her bus? Waiting on someone to arrive? As you can tell, with street scenes, I think the best ones are those where there are multiple possibilities. Here, I can't tell for sure, but the choices are not so abstract as the usual "far off gaze" in portrait shots. It's good, if not definable. I do wish we could see her hands though.

As usual for you, a strong mood off a simple subject. Good color and light.
Uhhh...the joys of shooting in Asia...

This is quite diferent from what i've been seeing from you, but diferent does not mean worst. In fact it's quite good. I'm surprised as you can transform normal daily scenes in such good photos.
