Photographer’s Note
The Maya is the National Bird of the Philippines. Although they are known as diurnal creatures, these two were caught sleeping at 7am in the morning. Sorry, I stand corrected. It used to be the national bird of the Philippines.

They must have slept late :)
FYI, the "maya", also known as the Eurasian Tree Sparrow, is no longer the National Bird. It's now the proud Haribon, the king of birds, the Philippine Eagle. I think it was long overdue. The Eurasian Tree Sparrow can hardly represent the Philippines. I think everywehere you go around the world, you would see this bird. At least in the places I've been to, there is the ubiquitous Eurasian Tree Sparrow.

FYI, the bird we called "maya" is not the Eurasian Tree Sparrow but the Black-headed Munia or Chestnut Munia.
