Baclayon Church in Bohol, Visayas Group of Islands, Philippines is the oldest in the province. Merely five kilometers away from where Spanish explorer Legazpi landed and sealed a blood compact with local leader Datu Sikatuna, Baclayon is a stark reminder of early Catholicism in the Philippines.
Undergoing constant upkeep, the church will next week celebrate its 413th year of existence, surviving natural calamities and the second World War.
Taken from across the street, where a slight bend makes it difficult to get a good angle that captures the entire structure.
