Photographer’s Note
Lately I have been posting many photo's from the beautiful beaches in the Philippines. However many Filipinos do not have the opportunity to enjoy the beach. They don't have or are not willing to spend the money to go there or it is too far (time concerning) as most of them are depending on jeepney's for their transportation needs since they don't have a car of their own.
This photo was taken on the east-west road crossing the mountains of Cebu Island between Balamban and Cebu City. Along this and other roads you will find many small groups of houses, mostly in a flat piece of land along the road.
No supermarkets or other shops or immediate medical services are available there. Often electricity and mobile telecomunications (mobile infrastructure is cheaper to build then landline) are however.
Sari sari stores and roadside markets provide the daily needs and income for some. Others earn their money by agriculture or are working in town and send money home to those staying behind.
Life is definately not easy at the Philippine countryside.

Hello Harko,
I never used this crossing but it looks very similar to the one further south, from Carcar!
The small settlements along the road is typical, in the middle of the lush rain forest...
Well framed and good details, fine freshness in colours!
Greetings,
