Photographer’s Note
Ipat is a ritual to appease the spirits. The Mansaka tribe are among the Indigenous People in the heartland of Maragusan province whose culture and tradition has been disrupted by the intrusion of the miners in their once sacred domain.
Its a long and herculean battle to protect their ancestral domain as the people in power are the ones who permit the destructive operation.

Hi Czaldy, an interesting note and nice to hear something new about the country. Sa totoo lang, ngayon ko lang narinig ang Mansaka tribe at tungkol sa tradisyon na ito. Do they have the Certificate of Ancestral Domain Claim /CADTitle which is a land status for indigenous people protecting them from intervention of external activities like mining, commercial land development in order to preserve their tradition and culture. I like the composition with the people along curving path, I wish you had a more close-up shot of the people. Have a good weekend, Alex
