Not only famous for its flour-like textured white sand, Boracay is also famous for its staggering sunsets, who wouldn't want to miss that? I guess I got myself a good souvenir from that place.
Best time to visit is January-early March, beach is still not that crowded, cool temperature in the evening and lots of low tide happenings during the time of the season thus exciting photographic opportunities.
Boracay is a tropical island about an hour's flight from Manila in the Philippines. Its long white sand- (imagine the texture of flour-that's how fine the sand is) - beaches rival the best beaches of more popular destinations such as the Caribbean, the South Pacific as well as neighboring Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia.
Hand held shot. Another stitching of 5 photos through Photoshop, used an GND .9 filter, Graduated sunset filter, and Graduated blue filter.
Just increased contrast and did the stitching in the PP work.

Une deuxième très belle version de ce coucher de soleil à Bocary. J'aime les petites silhouettes des personnages et du voilier et les jeux de lumière sur les rides de sable.

Hello Matt - The textures in the sand are superb and I love the silhouetted details of people and sail boats. The shot tempts me to visit Boracay and your note underlines the felling. Warm regards dear Matt.
PS I shall Google Boracay as an option for the Philippines. Where else would you suggest if we do a 2 or 3 destination trip?

Beautiful light and interesting patterns on the sand. Was this photo really taken with a 18-55mm ? Looks like a ultra-wide angle lens awas used ?
I like he format and the frame too.

Otra maravilla de ese paraiso que se llama Boracay. Foto creativa, con un maravilloso contraluz dorado y esas pequeñas siluetas que dan vida a la imagen. Un muy buen trabajo amigo!

this is such a wonderfully powerful composition. Full of compelling elements, textures and colours.
I love the light and the sense of movement from the silhouetted person individuals and the cloud is so perfectly placed so as to add a little drama.

I like the way you have filled 1/3 of the frame with the sand. I like the texture of the sand with nice wavy patterns. The silhouetted people look like dancing figures. The colors of the sky are spectacular with a big cloud hanging on the top left. What a beautiful place to see this sunset.

il grandangolo spinto crea magiche suggestioni, mi piace molto la texture della sabbia illuminata e la gente in lontananza.
Altrettanto bello il nuvolone rosato sulla sinistra ed il colore pastello del cielo.
Un caro abbraccio

Beautiful textures with the ripples of the wet sand. Love your use of wide angle here and one can not see the stitching, it gives a feeling of space and going on forever. Love those tiny little silhouette agains the pastel hued sky.

amazing place indeed. Fantastic series from this beautiful place. I like the incredible colors. The foreground is very eye catching. People on the horizon are a good reference also for the scale.
annjackman (17797) 2012-03-21 5:19
Lovely light and textures, and a super cloud formation. The low POV and wide angle works well making a creative beach scene.
abmdsudi (39634) 2012-03-21 7:34
Superb result, an evocative shot and well controlled balance exposure. So much detail that excels in my eyes and I like the rippled sands best and those vibrant colours and shade in the sky areas. A cracking shot indeed, fabulous find and you've captured it beautifully.
worldcitizen (6483) 2012-03-21 11:37
I was looking at your three most recent photos, and this one grabbed me the most. It has two elements combined that appear separately in each of the other photos: the rippled patterns in the sand, and the golden sunset. I particularly like the way the sun is touching the horizon as it sets. The silhouettes in the distance, and the puffy cloud, add wonderful details to this beautiful scene.
aloyho (6798) 2012-03-22 1:44
I grew up near the beach and have enjoyed many a sunset similar to this. I enjoyed the ripple effect on the sand after the beating waves retreat and in this shot you can visualize the movement and rhythm through these lovely ripples that you managed to capture. Mind you this place is good for foot massage if you walk barefooted. I also like the sheen and reflected colours though I would hope for a more interesting cloud formation. Lovely shot and great stiching.

Another really good post with multiple shots. Once again seemless stiches. You should be a pastic surgent :) I was also wonderful if you stay after the sunset to take a few more shot and also if you were able to avoid that cloud. It is really dominated the sky because it s the only large area and also dark. I cover it up with my hand and the rest of the scene looks much nicer. Well again, that is just my opinion and preference. Excellent quality shots regardless.
delpeoples (52497) 2012-03-24 0:40
Wow, look at those textures, they're my favourite element in the photo. Great pastel tones and of course the lens distortion on the horizon is an artistic effect to. Lovely shot, really attractive and a little different from the usual seascape.

What a great capture of this beautiful sunset.Great POV to emphasize the ripples in the sand and the perspective.Beautiful silhouettes, colours, sky with fine light management.
Well done,TFS and best regards.
CLODO (28938) 2012-03-28 8:19
Nice low POV to enhance the wet sand ripple marks, the persons and boat silhouettes and the amazing cloud.
Angshu (54745) 2012-04-05 20:20
Wonderful capture! With your low-ish POV, you captured the ripples on the sand very well, in a diagonal leading to the horizon. The 3 other elements work beautifully in conjunction as well...the silhouette of the people, the setting sun & the diagonally oriented clouds drenches in sunset glow. Beautiful work!
