Photographer’s Note
a specie of tree and its fruit, native to southwest india, sri lanka and southeast asia, jackfruit is an evergreen tree growing 10-15m tall. the leaves are alternately arranged, elliptical 5-25cm long and 3-12cm broad often lobed on young trees but entire on mature trees. the fruit is huge, seldom less than almost 25cm in diameter.
the english name jackfruit derives from portuguese jaca, which is derived from malayalam chakka. langka in tagalog, kathal in bengali (bangladesh's national fruit), mit in vietnamese, nangka in malaysian and indonesian, derakhte nan in iranian, jaca in portuguese, jaka or fruta de jack in spanish, bolouin in chinese, baramil in korea and the lists goes on...
jackfruit is widely grown in south and southeast asia and brazil. also grown in parts of eastern africa and suriname.

The name jack fruit is derived from its place of origin, Kerala state in India. it is an endemic tree of the western ghats. where it is called chakka in malayalam not from malayan language

I was already missing your delicious fruits.
Great capture, as ever.
I wish I could taste it more often, as I don't do it since I went to Thailand many years ago, where they sold pieces of it in the streets. After that I only eat it in can and that's not the same thing.

I tried it in Bangladesh... It had a sertain stench to it but the taste was unforgatable.... Your photo is great, it makes me drool :)
