Photographer’s Note
without clouds, it would not rain. when clouds turn into grey, rain looks imminent. clouds are made up of water droplets formed when warm, moist air rises high into the sky and cools. the water vapor in it condenses and forms what will become raindrops. these droplets move around in the cloud and bang into each other. as they do this, they increase in size until they are heavy enough to unleash a downpour (rain).
rain is needed to 'soften' the rice paddies from the previous harvest, for easy plowing in preparation for the next rice planting term, usually every 3-4 months. my last few days of vacation in the farm, it rained cats and dogs, i didn't like it but the farmers...:-)

Hello Benedict,
I'm glad finally you posted again. The lights on clouds especially harsh parts are just wonderful. Perfect ratio between sky, green ridges and rice field while your skillful experience framing them with coconut leafs. Congratulations. Have a nice weekend.
Friendly Regards,
Ertugrul

Hello Ben,
The sky, clouds, the open air...these are all what I remember from my last visit. And you have adequately captured them well. The coconut foliage always is a nice natural framing ingredient. There was so much kidnapping news in Mindanao, I got scared and never ventured this part of the Phil...Ingatz...Danilo

Hi Benedict,
Light management and detail of that threatening stream of clouds are excellent, the brown fields document the need for rain and provide a nice base for the clouds.

Exactely. Everytime I complain about the rain, the farmers in Alentejo jump of happiness. I actually think Portugal has one of the best weathers of the world, but problably not for agriculture. Nice view of your dried fields, Benedict. The threatening sky makes a nice contrast with the sunny landscape.

Hi Benedict,
Amazing sky over an apparently very fertile land. I like much the farming effect of the palm trees.

Hi Ben,
I see that you posted this last month! Sorry to be so late...very nice shot. The cloudy sky fills nicely the upper part while the tress and rice plantation do their part as the main attraction even using only one third. Lighting and colors are very natural. Well done!
Abraço,
Carlos
