Photographer’s Note
new york times reported on december 13, 2007 about Ike Turner's death last wednesday at his home in San Marcos, California, a San Diego suburb. he was 76.
many, especially the young generations may not be acquainted with this former R&B musician, songwriter, bandleader, producer, talent scout and ex-husband of Tina Turner (nee- Anna Mae Bullock).
Tina Turner (one of my faves, btw) described the relationship as abusive in her autobiography, "I, Tina" which was adapted for the 1993 film "What's Love Got to Do With It" and made Ike's name synonymous with domestic abuse. but Ike's huge contribution to music shouldn't be forgotten, despite his abuse history.
these philippine-native lirios, cousin to the local amaryllis are for Ike. may he rest in peace!

Hi Ben, Amazing that the fisheye can take this high quality floral shot. More reason for me to save for an equivalent lens. How sweet of you to dedicate this to Ike. A very talented man indeed but unfortunately, he will always be remembered as an abusive person. Regards, Danilo

Hi Benedict,
You chose a beautiful photo to pay your tribute to that controversial but even so important musician.
It's a wonderful compo, with the brightness and sharpness on the beautiful flowers making it stand up very nicely against the dark, blurred, but even so interesting BG.
Regards, José.

Olá Benedict, lovely tribute to Ike Turner. This detail is superb and the contrast with the darker background is fantastic. The Lirio really glows with all the whitish petals growing in every directions. Great shot, excellent presentation.

WoW!
What a great exposure and DOF!
The light on the flower is splendid, setting the exposure due to the flower and having the blurred BG darker than the flower is a very good idea to realize.
Nice dedication to a good musician.
Cheers,

Benedict,
I offer my critique of this photograph. Splendid color and lighting and DoF. The flower aptly presides over the moment and the occasion to which you have selected to dedicate this fine image. Well done.

Here is a comment on the theme:
The saga of Ike and Tina could have had such a different and better ending but for the many really terrible decisions made by, and the behavior of Ike, himself. For me, his musical talent did not transcend his brutality towards Tina; his music did not counterbalance the pain he inflicted needlessly upon his own wife.
Hopefully, in his later years, Ike may have repented and perhaps even sought genuine foregiveness. If he asked and prayed before he passed, then perhaps he has found foregiveness at last. May he rest in Peace.
Best regards,
Chris

Hi Benedict,
Great tribute. The flower has amazing details. I like how you composed this shot and created the slight out of focus background with the aperture to delineate the flower from the background. This really makes this shot a great one!

Hi Benedict,
A lovely image for your dedication. I like your off centre positioning of the flower in the composition, and the beautiful light on the flower which stands out so well from the dark background. Wonderful sharp details too.

A lovely shot of this lirios, Benedict. Sharp, delicate, beautiful. I love the way it dominates and lights up the foreground. Excellent POV and well-done macro. Good cropping, too. You've set up your tribute well.
