Photographer’s Note
This was taken in North Bay Pier of Manila. Across the street from these houses are the piers for inter-island shipping. The houses you see on the photo are illegally built houses on someone's property. It was not a good day for taking pictures, the sun was covered by the clouds. It is bright, but the light is so even that it does not cast definitive shadows. The siding and roofs of the houses are all sorts of materials they found in the dump yard that is about 5 to 8 blocks from this place. The streets are the children's playground. They have their own world in this area.

nice daily life scene, it looks like many places in central america or hispano-caribe. I really like this boy running, the big smile... slightly off on the timing though, it would have been better before he goes behind the motorcyle.

Andre:
If you tell me this has been shot in Cho Lon (Saigon's China Town), I would believe you.
Once you arrive there, you will see the similar scene ;o)
Thanks for sharing. I wish I could visit your country soon...

Impressive place, especially considering your note. It’s a pity people have to come to this situation to have houses and a place to live. In Portugal we also have some problems with this type of construction, which is built mainly by immigrants. Their low incomes, and in many situations illegal situation does not allow them to buy houses which is creating a lot of problems now.
Regarding the photo, even if the light was difficult you’ve managed it well. Just wished to see the whole wheel of the bike.

really interesting shot, it really shows the life of this place. poverty is not hidden but the bright colours and the children playing bring something else.
