Photographer’s Note
This was taken in North Bay Pier of Manila. Across the street from these houses are the piers for inter-island shipping. This area used to have 10 ffet wide sidwalks but it is now occupied by "squatters" or people with illegally built houses on someone's property. On this case, government property. It was about to rain when I took this picture. It is bright, but the light is so even that it does not cast deinitive shadows. The siding and roofs of the houses are all sort of materials they found in the dump yard that is about 5 to 8 blocks from this place. The streets are the children's playground. This place is considered as a tough neighborhood, meaning you can get mugged if you are a stranger to the place. I took this from inside a slow moving car.

Hi Andre,
good street view, full of details, children, houses, publicity... The sky with this storm approaches, looks superb, and the light you captured, I think it is very good. A daiy life moment with a sad history that you explain us, really, sometimes, as a tourist, you can go calmly by the street.
Best regards,
Jaume

Glad you didn't get mugged taking this photo! What incredible poverty you have pictured, a sad place for children to grow up. I hope it is safe for them, at least. Thanks for sharing this picture of daily life in this part of Manila.

Andre This is a good street photo with lot of things to see and process my thought. You put the light on the life of these people. Very graphic details and different colors. It is a hard life for them.
