The sky and the ambiance are just too strong to critic the shot for low-light density. It is intense in the movement, in the contrast of colours between the blue-pink sky and the green street and in the lighting in itself, a moment of life caught. And that is what photography is primarily about, is it not?
However, as you shoot in raw, I wonder if you could have "opened up" a little bit those shadows without sacrificing the impact and contrast of the picture? Curiosity, as I am often treated to the pleasure of fine tuning raw photos by a friend better equipped than I (I shoot only jpeg with my S1is)
Keep it up!

Hi Mark, welcome back, glad to see you posting again.
Like the pic, but the lights are overpowering, I would have cropped it diffrently, please see the workshop for my suggestion.

Typical street feel, recalls me younger times when playing football in the streets until the night fell. They say only in Brazil kids play day long, well, then Brazil is worldwide.
I will not complain about the general lighting which I think gives plenty of mood and is very well balanced : the perfect moment of the day to click. However, I would need just somewhere to rest my eye, and perhaps some more depth, I'm also a bit distracted with the blurry thingy passing through the scene in the foreground: I think it would have definitely benefited from a very slight fill in flash.
I don't know how to rate this one, either deep green for the idea or simply green, because it could be improved. It'll be simply green, if not you'd say I'm going softy ;) ....

Hi Mark. It's not about darkness but how you saw/remembered it. From what I'm seeing, you are conveying children and the game they played, without bothering too much, when they play it. There is an unidentifiable blur right upfront though. I see you still shoot RAW but for action and twilight scene like this, you need faster shutter and write speed. That way you have more shots to choose from.

Definitely not too dark for my taste.
The light and colors are great, it has a very 3D look to me, I guess mainly because of the sky.
It's full of action from the players in motion and still with a lot of sharp details (wires, lamps, trees, fence) - but what I like most is that the mother and her child on the left and the small guy in the middle are sharp within all the movement around them.
I'd love to see this printed large on a wall.

Hi Mark,
I am enjoying looking through your earlier work as I think it is just a little more interesting. I have no problems about the lighting here..I think its really quite nice and gives a good feeling about the atmosphere.
This to me is quite a magical shot, and I am only sorry that my untrained eye cannot find anything to give constructive criticism. I enjoy this purely for its aesthetic qualities and will remember it more than anything else I have seen in your gallery...edit: so far :)
