Palawan is a stretch of exotic views, good food, bright smiles and friendly people. From Puerto Princessa airport, the capital of Palawan, we rented a van (with a driver/tour guide) to port barton for about 4 hours (free butt massage ride) click here for my Port Barton shot
We stayed for a night at Port Barton, where we were able to relax and enjoy nature, good food and wine, warm ocean water and ooppss--- jelly fish. We left very early the next day to El Nido about 5 hours drive from Barton.
El Nido is a paradise! I just love it. There are so many islands to go, so many things to do, dive, snorkel, swim with the fish, I can go on and on...clear water, fine sand..and great resorts, I recommend Miniloc Islands resort or Lagen Is. Resorts Virtual Tour and of course great view!
From El Nido, you can either take the plane back to Puerto Princessa or trudge the long and winding road..which is what we did, and passed by St. Pauls Subterranean underground river, one of the worlds longest navigable underground river. (photo I will upload soon)
In this picture, we went island hopping, with our guide Jack...he swims like a fish and can stay under water for hours!
Hope you like it! ;)

It is definitely a paradisiacal place. The color and transparency of the water is incredible!. It must be an experience to swim and navigate through all those islands... Absolutely marvelous! And the picture is very well taken. TFS.

Nicely framed Claire, and good POV, maybe the boat is a little OE but could probbaly be adjested in PS. You managed the harsh lighting pretty well.

Beautiful shot with excellent choice of vertical format. The composition with the boy standing on the boat at the very right and the so clear water with the sky and the so beautiful clouds on the left is excellent.
kiwi_explorer (12209) 2007-07-14 3:40
Well captured and composed. Good use of vertical format to balance the upright line of the boy in the banca. Nice clear waters ... very inviting to take a swim. Image clarity and color quality is very good. Excellent work! tfs

This looks like a stunning place with the transparent emerald water and the interesting rock formations in the background. I like how you placed the boy on the boat in your frame and the clouds give a weird and wonderful atmosphere.

Very sharp image of the waterway and the guide onboard. I like the crop of the boat and guide as you glide through the waterway...

I really really like this one .. everything in it seems to pull us into a sense of three dimensions. The whitewashed jetty?, the boy and his pole, the clouds, the patterns under the water ..
beautiful color palette .. I love how the water pulls together the colors of the sky and trees ..

Great composition Claire. I like how you placed the boy so far to the right. The colors, especially in the sky and water, look great. The whole background landscape gives the photo a truly exotic feel and the boy poling through the water on the front of the boat just adds to this feeling. The young looking age of the boy along with his dress and underwear showing also adds a sense of a laidback feeling to your paradise.
I think I need to go here.

L'eau est bien transparente et le personnage apporte de la vie à cette image.

Lovely colors hinting for paradise here, I like also your dynamic framing that places the viewer right into the action.

Beautifull light and colors in this picture. The water is so beautifull ...
I like how you have cropped this picture with a vertical frame.
markstaples (15670) 2007-11-26 10:05
This a nice crisp, sharp shot taken from a good POV. The boat leads us into the shot ... it's as if we've got our very own guide. Beautiful colours too. Nice work.

there is a cool National Geographic side to this picture, which means that it is visually appealing and that there is a journalistic side to it.
I like the clear water and the patterns in the water. It gives a cool 3D effect. That and the huge vertical line on which the boy stands. Another fine detail is his wet pants and hair which show that he just came back from the water.
It's a beautiful and dynamic image where the eyes have plenty of space to move on.

Firstly, I don't think I have ever seen this font used before in a note, looks more interesting than the usual. How did you manage that, I thought TE disabled that? This image really communicates the tranquil beauty of this place well. The area looks peaceful and secluded, away from the hustle of mainstream life. The crop is good, I think there is a small amount of distortion in width, but it does not ruin the feel. Good saturation and colour range/variety.
Stepan (27210) 2008-03-27 23:43
The way you off centered the guy is the best you could get. It works very well and creates the depth where we go to enjoy a beautiful place. That's well composed and managed.

Hi Claire, This shot is very attractive! I love your palawan shots a lot, this shot really does present what the islands truly are, and that tropical paraiso vibe. I am really impressed by the colours and details, and the framing is very impressive, the boatman is also very fitting in this scene. Great water! and i love the balance of water, land and sky in this shot. One of my favourites of yours!
