The reception desk of a White Beach resort in Puerto Galera in the island of Mindoro sits conveniently on the sidewalk. Guests then enter the compound behind it and into their own rented houses. I was surprised the place was owned by a caucasian - probably an American. Puerto Galera has so many wonderful beaches, snorkeling and dive sites. It's a pity though, that the local government seems to have no vision of the future of the island's beachfront development. I'm not saying we need Shangri-la Hotels everywhere, but i dont think three-foot wide sidewalks packed with tourists is ideal either.
