Photographer’s Note
Mt. Malindig is the highest point on the sleepy island i call home every few months of the year, called Marinduque. Known as the Heart of the Philippines!
Malindig is an ancient volcano, like much of the volcanoes of the Philippine Islands. I believe the last known recorded eruption took place about the time the Spanish hit the shores of Marinduque. Currently the Volcano is asleep, and according to studies, "Dead" which is a basic term for "Not Going to blow up any time in our life"..
History Lesson
Legend has it that the island of Marinduque was formed as a consequence of a tragic love affair between two people: Marina and Garduke. Marina's father, a local chieftain, did not approve of this affair and ordered the beheading of Garduke. Before this could be done, the couple sailed out to sea and drowned themselves, forming the island now called Marinduque. Other versions of the legend also claim that the island was named "Malindik", named after Marinduque's highest mountain, Mt. Malindig. When Spanish conquistadors arrived in the Philippines, they found the name hard to pronounce, which led to the renaming of the island as "Marinduc" and later the current "Marinduque".

I do not think of myself as a photographer at all. I do wish i could be as advanced and knowledgeable as all of you lot, but my current situation will always prevent that (for some time at least). Mind you, i know enough to get around, im no point-and-shoot for the family album, but i don't boast any real skill for the meantime... This shot was my only shot of Mt Malindig really, for this trip. The Sands of this area of Marinduque are also well known for being very white, hence the name "White Beach" which is Barangay Poctoy's and Marinduques most popular beach among visitors from the Mainland (Domestic tourists) and International Tourist's stopping by.
Well here we have the view from my house. I have seen some of the most beautiful sunsets from this exact vantage point (the sun sets behind the volcano, illuminating the entire sky and background in the warm colours of the sunset). Due to a low pressure, clouds where not too co-operative. So i have this day shot when it was a bit more clearer.
Photo:
* Cropped, adjusted horizon slightly
* Very little colour adjustment
* Other than all that, this is a basic Raw Image. (how i like it).
Regards! Have a safe year! Happy Capturing!
