Photographer’s Note

A father and his son enjoy a quiet morning on a boat in Lake Sebu. Lake Sebu in the southern Tiruray Highlands, where the Tiboli tribe people live, must be the most beautiful lake in the Philippines. Unfortunately, this area, as well as others on Mindanao, is sometimes in conflict and not always safe.

Hi Danilo,
Lovely deep colours in this well composed image!
The morning sun lends beautiful warm colour, as seen in the little boy...
I'm a bit surprised to find the softness in this image...
Lake Sebu is an interesting place, not visited by many baecause of the reason you mention!

a fine framed moment with the boat in front in the vast lake towards the land at the horizont reflected in the water. the blue sky is perfect, the green could be brought up a bit more contrasted and a gradiant to green from below would enduce some more colorvariety. A tiny sharpening could help also.

Hi Danilo. The clarity and blue o the wter is wonder, but the ripples flowing out behind prevent it from becoming too static.Compositions with strong horizontals, tend to suggest, stability and tranquility, as it does here. Rgerads Kevin

Such tranqulity is ideal for bonding. Sometimes I wish the area is as peaceful as this scene.
You've captured and composed the scene well. The more I see the sharpness of your photos, the more I like Nikon ... if only it is small enough to fit into my pocket.

Hi Danilio,
I'm sorry to hear that the peace you show here is illusory. The the mirroring surface of the lake that is enhanced by simplicity of the boat, with the two figures balanced in each end, the lovely pattern of ripples and the reflection of the clouds all combine to make this harmonious effect.
