Philippine Election Posters:
The Philippines recently had the national elections, which cover everything from the President down to local government councillors.
The incumbent president is Gloria Macapagal Arroyo and her main rival is Fernando Poe Jr., who continues Joseph Estrada's tradition of movie actors running for president. At this time, they still have not finished counting all the votes.
At election time, campaign posters abound. But this is the day after the election and the election posters have already started to be pulled down. These posters are plastered over a cemetary wall in Malabon, one of the districts of Metro Manila.

Even without the extra election interest, this makes a good compo, with the posters, and the nicely placed cyclist. Even better with the note.

This is great, Josh. I really like the ocean blue wall behind the guy and the posters make a nice repetitive pattern throughout. Nothing really to nit pick here. Well done.

The scene dominated by green is beautiful and interesting. The cyclist with green clothes is in nice position. Excellent shot, Josh!

Good shot Josh, I like this one a lot. Did you see the wall as being a very good backdrop, then wait for a subject to move into the shot? That would be my guess and it was a very good choice I think. I even like how there are fewer posters right where the tricyclist is, had he been positioned elsewhere in the photo, I think this shot would not have been quite as good. I like the green tone that sort of permeates the entire shot too. I wish the guy on the bike were just a little sharper, but likely you couldn't have got quick enough shutter speed to do so...too bad you don't shoot digital ;). Really good work, to be honest, this reminds me of something Luko would shoot, that can't be all bad.

Good slice of life picture. Very informative notes too. Composition is quite wonderful with the tricycle perfectly poised in an off centered position with room for it to continue on its way. Colors are great too. As they say in Manila, "galing!" (great!).

this is very good Josh.
i think this man sees all those posters everyday and that's why they no longer attract his attention.
well seen and well done.

I like the green colour here - it's very eye-catching and adds atmosphere to the whole picture. I also like the repetition of the posters on the wall. The guy on the rickshaw(?) is really well positioned too. Overall, a great shot.

EXCELLENT! Thanks for posting it here. I like the greeen and the blur. Composition is good. And good notes.
I voted for GMA here in Bnagkok (in the embassy). I hope she wins.

Very interesting image. I like how the man looks in the opposite direction of the posters as ignoring all that confusion! Great colors , details and composition.

Excellent shot, I love the background and that was the good choice to wait, wait, wait... but there are a few things i will pick on :
- shutter issue, either slower or faster. your tricycle is neither sharp nor blurry, looks like shaken...
- post processing : i would "close" the upper part reading with additional darkening.
And yes, Darren is right for one point, I would shoot the same scene, and wrong for the other, I'm not sure I would be the reference...

Very interesting shot, with so many details, and repititive patterns. You did a great crop to make the photo looks like a long street. The character is nicely placed in the shot too.

Very fine photo! I like the contrast between the man and the full of posters wall. The colors are very fine too! Nice work!
