Photographer’s Note
For my Halloween post, I'll be sharing this photo of the famed hanging coffins of Sagada.
A 30 minute descent of steep and rocky trail would lead you to this site where the remains of the natives rest in the solemn embrace of nature.
The remnants of this more than a century old practise in Sagada can be seen from ancient coffins which are either hanged to places that seemed to be impossible to reach and to caves where they are stacked and piled all together(which I will be sharing in my next post).
The ancient coffins are made of wood from large tree trunk that were etched for the remains to settle in.
One would notice that some of the coffins looks newer than the others. I did some research out of curiosity and found out that the locals still practise this and the latest addition was done a couple of decades ago.
Thanks for viewing!

Hi Andrew,
Technically this is not the best: I like the composition, but the backdrop in the left is overexposed. On the other hand, I really find this shot very interesting, as I'd never heard of the sight. It reminds me of other hillside burial 'grounds'. Interesting upload, I'm going to try and found out more about this.
Happy birthday.

hi andrew,
been here in 2005 but wasn't carrying a DSLR yet.
scanned fotos are never that impressive hence i declined posting my share of this very interesting place.
the composition is perfect as one can clearly see what exactly this hanging cememtery is by mere looking at those caskets "clinging" the rocks. i am no institution at exposures but i think the upper left portion is too bright, IMHO. your note are very informative tho. apt for halloween posting.
TFS
