Photographer’s Note
One of the many rice terraces in Sagada, part of the Cordillera Mountain range in the Northern Luzon in the Philippines. These terraces are man-made and listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. The Cordillera’s rugged mountainous backbone contains many peaks exceeding 2,000 meters in height, with rolling hills and stretches of river valleys along its flanks. The Cordillera is both the highest and the single largest mass of mountains in the entire Philippine archipelago. Indonesia, China, and Vietnam also have beautiful rice terraces.
I have included in the WS an image of another rice terraces from a nearby province.

"Indonesia, China, and Vietnam also have beautiful rice terraces but the terraces in these regions are not situated up in the mountains.
Your photo is an artwork by a photographic expert but your note is incorrect. Please take a look at the photos of Yuanyang, China.

Hi Danilo,
Dazzling view. The fields look real tiny but I guess they're just far away.
Great tones and depth.

Hello Danilo.
I am always amazed to see these terraces...the sheer size is outstanding, but to think of the engineering that took place to create these plateaus is great. Such texture from your vantage point...seems almost as if the mountain is melting in molten waves. Great, detailed photograph.

Chris.

Olá Danilo, I absolutely love the visual effect of the these terraces on the landscape. It's a really beauty and I allways smile everytime I see one photo of them here. Excellent capture from above with great colors and well managed lighting. Love the graphism and the WS is also a very good one that could be easily been the main post.

Hello Dan,
Spectacular view and well captured/composed. This one does not have the visual pollution that some of the rice terraces I've seen wherein residential housing is very prominent. Hope they continue preserving this heritage. As usual, the quality of your picture is outstanding. Nindot kaayo, Bay.

danilo strikes again! :) your capture of the rice fields is a tribute to the age-old practice of Cordillera farmers to plant rice on steep steps of this hill. beautiful greens can be seen in your photo, yet it also shows the brown soils where the terraces are being worked on. no other rice terraces in asia are situated on the hills, this is truly a marvelous photo. two thumbs up!

Hi Danilo,
I almost think I like the WS better because of the more close-up detail. Of course this one is very interesting as well. I wonder where you were when you took the photo. It almost looks like it was taken from a plane with the flooded fields looking like little chips of mirrored glass. HLJ, Pat

Hi Danilo. It's amazing how intricate the terracing is here. I'm willing to bet these fields have been used generation after generation. I might up the contrast to enhance the clarity. tfs Danilo.

This is a good time of year to take this when the rice fields are flooded. The light reflected on the water makes a wonderful pattern. Your high POV works very well.

Isn't it amazing that something that is essentially utilitarian can also be beautiful. I love the POV of these terraces and the gentle colours and details that work their way up the slopes to dissolve into simple wild.
