Photographer’s Note
In a recent trip to this place, I have noticed this one and it made me laugh a lot. As we Filipinos know it, longaniza or longganisa is the local version of the sausage. Probably due to the declining economic condition, producers of this food item have managed to create something cute and witty out of offering us lesser than what we normally paid for in the past: the shortganiza. Well, for one, they are shorter (or smaller) than the well-known longaniza. This is Filipino sense of humor at it's best.

Hi, Utoy (I remember my older relatives calling me with this endearing term when I was younger. Are you from Laguna or Batangas?) Your picture is funny and made me hungry. I live in a small town in Iowa where the nearest Oriental grocery (Vietnamese)is a 40 minute drive. The nearest Filipino grocery that carries longanisa is in Chicago which is 3 hours away, and they're not as tasty as the longaniza I remember...we're so cholesterol-conscious here that they cut out the fat. At first I thought the picture would be better without the highlights on the sausages but on second thought, they do suggest that those things are oily. Nice placement of the sign. Thanks for sharing...I'll have some of those shortganizas anytime.
