Photographer’s Note

When we visit Samar province coming from Manila we usually travel by car and it usually takes us around 14 hours drive.
Since Manila and Samar is separated by sea we have to travel through ferry boat midway from our journey. Travel by boat is 2 hours in addition to our land travel so we take opportunity to get some rest while we are on sea travel.

Usually before cars and passengers are lifted inside this ferry boats you usually see some kids enjoying time earning some living.
Giving them some few coins they would attempt to jump from the highest level of the ferry boat or you could throw a few coins and they would happily dive for it. Some kids have wooden paddle strapped around to one of their foot to assist them in swimming and diving. I am also impressed with this kids since they can do stationary swimming even more than 30 minutes.

Was able to capture one of the kids jumping above the highest level of the boat (you may wonder why the closed left fist? because thats where the coin is! :-) )Sorry for some sharpness issue since i accidentally used a low MP for this one. Though i did tweak on UNSHARP MASK and LEVELS adjustment to improve things a little bit.

Quite amazing that you could freeze the jumping boy at 1/50 sec! I would expect a much faster shutter speed. Anyway, I like the composition with the boys nicely spaced around the frame. The water creates a wonderful background.

Bravo! Lesson learned: always keep your settings at the highest resolution, and have the highest memory avaiable so you just keep shooting and shooting and shooting...

Excellent composition with this child jumping in the triangle formed by his three friends. It is taken in full action. Beautiful color of water. A great image.

Good photo!
I love the colour of the ocean. The three kids already in the water are very geometric. It is a very balanced photo. Your eyes follow the kids from one side to the other side of the photo. The kid jumping gives a sensation of speed and movement.

Very good action shot. I used to do those things too in my childhood. We hadn't those coast areas available but kids always find things to experiment with. Probably good when the parents not always are around to avoid hard attacks ;-).

Refreshing point of view and beautiful details and composition. All the kids eagerly looking up and enjoying the moment. Very well done.
