Photographer’s Note

This is a scene from Calicoan Island, a small island in the Philippines in the province of Eastern Samar. It lies east of Leyte Gulf off the southeast point of Samar, near Guiuan. The island can be reached from Tacloban City in a two-hour bus ride. I stayed in this island for three nights and hardly saw tourists. The beach was indeed empty. Surfing is good here.

Very beautiful beach scene well composed with a good foreground anchor by way of the rocks and making good use of the curving shoreline. I like the different quadrants of colour and texture. Very good clarity.

Good low POV and well composed with land forming a kind of diagonal, colors are fine... i like the way you show rocks in foreground, it adds some different texture..

Wow no tourist around ... my kind of getway place. Sometimes us city slickers need space and this seem to be the kind of place we yearn for holiday. Looking at the surf in the photo, it must be a hidden surfer's paradise waiting to be explored. Excellent photography ... TFS.

Hi Danilo. This shot begs for a low shooting angle and you did just that. It helps that you included most of the clouds without chopping much off. The effects from the polarizer are oh so nice. Beautiful work Danilo!

I suppose this is the East coast of the island, with the waves from the Pacific rolling in to provide for surfing possibilities!
Not the usual Philippine beach we see in postcards, but a well composed image with strong attractive colours!

It looks like Paradise, and the heavy seas look perfect for surfing. Well composed using the stones for some forergound interest and putting the shoreline on a diagonal.

Wow such a great angle or pov you have chosen! It enhaces the beauty of this awesome spot in Philippines, a destination which little by little is getting more frequent and popular In Spain, though still is very expensive in comparison with other neighbour lands, like Thailand, Vietnam, or Cambodia.

A beautiful beach scene Danilo, and your composition is excellent, if a little travel brochureish (that's not a criticism by the way). You took it in great light too and the colours are stunning.
I'm a bit puzzled by the softness and slight fuzziness though, particularly with THAT lens. The combination of aperture and shutter speed that you used would seem to be a guarantee of sharpness too, so I suspect the problem lies with the processing stage, or maybe it's a result of the small file size.
Never mind, if I step back from the monitor a couple of paces it looks fine!

I could have commented about any of your more recent fantastic shots, but I noticed this one sitting on 99! And it looked pretty good, so now I can give it the century!
Nicely composed shot of its type, with classical proportions, dynamic colours, and balanced points of interest. The perspective effect is great, and the detail of the nearest rocks is well contrasted with the sea. Very nice indeed.
